St. Georges Day 23rd April 2008

WHAT delicious timing!

Today is St George’s Day. The day on which, according to a poll, eight out of ten Englishmen and women feel intensely proud of their country.

So much so that Scot Gordon Brown last night ordered the English flag must fly above No 10.

National flags will also fly for Wales’s St David’s Day and for Scotland’s St Andrew.

This is all about “Britishness”. But it turns out to be a grotesque con on the British people.

This is also the day we learn that England, Scotland and Wales are to come under direct rule from Europe.

The EU has been split into “transnational regions” which will eventually take orders from Brussels, not from their elected parliaments.

Much of Scotland and the North-East merges with Scandinavia; Wales and the West join Portugal and Spain. Parts of the South link to Northern France.

Ministers insist this is an admin exercise of no great consequence.

Rubbish. This is the latest step in the accelerating collapse of British sovereignty — and the unstoppable growth of unaccountable EU power.

Now you know why Brown broke his 2005 election pledge to hold a referendum.

And below a letter from an Essex student who was chastised by his school for wearing a small George cross emblem at school

You are not permitted to be Patriotic !!!!!!!!!!!!

St. George's Flag
I am writing to complain and state the decreasing knowledge of the day that celebrates our countries heritage. The day is St George's Day. I am 15 and was 1 of only 2 people that had even noted that is was St George's within my school. Personally I think that this is both wrong and appalling.
The knowledge known by the adults of tomorrow about our countries patriot is limited to none. Out of about 150 pupils 2 people had remembered it was St George's Day without any reminding. The problem is that days such as today cannot be celebrated due to the continuous up-roars caused by minorities saying that it is unequal and there is no need to celebrate.
England has only 1 day a year for celebration, I say we should celebrate with the true English Pride and spirit!

I went to school today with the Flag of England on my back and was told to remove it as it was not part of school uniform and because it could be considered offensive to minorities. I'm sorry... BUT THIS IS ENGLAND! Why after hundreds of years of celebrating our countries heritage should we now be forced to decline all knowledge of our patriot and watch as the last remaining evidence of true English spirit fade away. I believe schools should teach the importance of a day such as today, to teach why this day is so important, to help students know the significance of days such as today. But no, schools would rather waste time and tax payers money to tell a student who supports his country to remove the English flag from sight. Why is it a 15 year old boy, who is trying to celebrate HIS countries day, gets penalized for supporting his country by wearing the England flag. Yet people of a different culture can wear things such as turbans and hoods (which is not in the school dress code either) because is part of THEIR countries religion. I believe that this is wrong, again it is a case of one rule for one and another rule for another.
Celebrate your countries heritage with pride! THE TRUE ENGLISH SPIRIT!
