DUMPSTER GARDENING
All about Gardening with things that would normally find their way into this
This Page is all about Planting for the Smaller Garden, Window Ledge Boxes, Patio Containers and old Plant Pots of various types. The under mentioned varieties are my personal choice. There are of course many other suppliers and variety's available.
BEETROOT
The Variety- Bolthardy- my personal choice for an Early sowing due to its resistance to 'Bolting' or going to seed. Good for sowing middle of March to July at 4 inches apart either in the ground or an old car tire.
ROCKET
Peppery Flavoured leaf for mixing in with a leaf salad or as a garnish. Great in Sandwiches.
BROCCOLI.
Early Purple Sprouting. A very cold Hardy winter vegetable one of the few edible plants available over the winter period.
That having been said leads nicely into Flowers from Seed
This is good if you have a Cat which you prefer to keep in the house.
LETTUCE LEAVES
-Mixed.
A Variety of mixed shapes, textures and colours which form the basis of a leaf salad. Baby leaves can be pulled or cut up to four times and will grow back again.
BASIL
Variety-Sweet Genovese
for use in Salads, Soups and Pasta. Grow indoors-year round-Outdoors May to June. Harvest Leaves as required.
PARSNIP.
White Gem- Short rooted variety and therefore suitable for pots , containers or ground. Smooth white skin and shows considerable resistance to Canker.
Radish. Sparkler 3

Bright Red almost round with white tips. Crisp, crunchy and mild flavour. For continuity sow every two to three weeks.
Patio and Indoor Gardens
These are a few of the plants in a corner of the garden which are the results of seeds from the above collection. Peas Spring Onions Mixture of Lettuce and Rocket Radish , which need to be thinned out

23rd May. A few more days of sunshine and these will be ready.
Straw and slug pellets have been put below fruit to keep them clear of the wet ground and deter Slugs
